Are you a current or recent student studying art, animation, computer graphics, and film?

Walt Disney Animation Studios is looking for interns for their 2020 Summer Internship Program. As a Talent Development intern, you will have the unique opportunity to work directly with a Disney mentor as you explore all aspects of art, storytelling, and filmmaking

Walt Disney Animation Studios Summer Internship Program is a ten week program with seven different categories to apply for. 

Travel grant:

The internship form Sámi areas can apply for a10.000$  travel grant, funded by The Saami Council and the Sámi parliaments. The applicant must have Sámi background, meets Disney's requirements for internships and have a plan for how to bring the knowledge back to the Sami community, such as through social media, lectures etc. Write an application, max 1 page, explaining your applicant basis and how you would like to bring your knowledge back to the Sami community. Send your application for travel grant marked with "WDAS internship” to: kmr@saamicouncil.net. 

Deadline for application(s) and travel grant is January 13, 2020 at 09:00 Swedish/Norwegian time and 10:00 Finnish time.

ENIVIRONMENT CG ARTIST

Expand your skill set into the world of animation! Walt Disney Animation Studios Summer Internship Program is a ten week experience designed for current or recent students studying art, animation, computer graphics, and film. As a Talent Development intern, you will have the unique opportunity to work directly with a Disney mentor as you explore all aspects of art, storytelling, and filmmaking. This immersive program offers hands-on experience focused on individual craft and multidisciplinary team collaboration. 

The 2020 Summer Intern program will be held at our Burbank, CA studio starting June 2020. To be eligible for the Walt Disney Animation Studios Internship, you must show sufficient skills based on the description below as well as provide material(s) to support the skills listed.

As a CG Environment artist intern, you will be exposed to various departments within our environments  pipeline. Within your internship program, you will be offered individualized mentorship as you explore the following disciplines:

  • Modeling - Landscapes, buildings, props, vehicles

  • CG Texturing/Surfacing - Landscapes, buildings, props, vehicles

  • Matte Painting - Backgrounds, worlds, set-extension

  • Effects - Water, destruction, snow, fire, smoke

  • Lighting - CG set-ups for environments 
     

Reel Requirements

  • Interest in CG Environment Departments such as Modeling, CG Texturing/Surfacing, Matte Painting, Effects, Lighting. Multiple disciplines a plus

  • A reel demonstrating your experience and interests in the CG arts

  • Working knowledge/understanding of CG software such as Maya, ZBrush, Houdini, StudioPaint, Painter, Renderman, or Photoshop

  • Strong eye for visual appeal 

  • Background in art, animation, or filmmaking a plus

  • Scripting (MEL, PERL, CSH) a plus

  • Include shot breakdown on your reel if applicable
